A tragic incident occurred in Mohalla Mian Sarai of Sadar Kotwali area in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, where a 70-year-old woman named Zubeda was attacked and mauled to death by a pack of stray dogs. The incident took place around 5 am on Wednesday while the woman was out for a walk.
Zubeda, a resident of Dera Sarai in Sambhal, was crossing the road when the street dogs pounced on her. Despite her attempts to chase them away, the dogs overwhelmed her and she collapsed on the street. The ferocious dogs bit her body, causing severe injuries and profuse bleeding.
Passersby who were on their way to the temple discovered Zubeda lying on the ground in torn clothes, surrounded by the aggressive dogs. They quickly intervened, chasing away the dogs and covering her with a sheet before rushing her to a nearby hospital. Tragically, she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The local police authorities have confirmed the incident and identified the victim, but no post-mortem has been conducted yet as her family members have not taken any action in this regard. The in-charge of Sadar Kotwali, Pawan Kumar, mentioned that no formal complaint or request for investigation has been lodged.
This unfortunate incident has stirred up concern and fear among the residents of Sambhal, especially after a similar attack resulted in the death of a 10-year-old child in the area a few months ago. In response to these incidents, the Executive Officer of Nagar Palika Sambhal, Anand Kumar Kataria, stated that a stray dog removal drive was initiated before the Lok Sabha elections but was halted temporarily. The authorities plan to resume the drive to address the stray dog menace and ensure the safety of the residents.
