Accident – Death – Obituary News : The funeral services for Trooper First Class TFC Aaron Pelletier will take place today, June 5, at the Xfinity Theatre in Hartford and will be live-streamed online.

Pelletier, a 34-year-old husband and father of two young boys, tragically lost his life on Thursday afternoon while conducting a routine traffic stop along I-84 in Southington. An intoxicated driver veered onto the highway’s shoulder and struck Pelletier, who had exited his patrol car to interact with a motorist he had pulled over for a potential seatbelt violation, as per police reports.

The passing of Pelletier has left a profound impact across Connecticut, with family, friends, and the wider community mourning his untimely death. He leaves behind a wife and two children.

The funeral proceedings will commence at 11 a.m. at the Xfinity Theatre in Hartford, located at 61 Savitt Way. Those wishing to attend are advised to park in the north lot extension, with the Hartford Police Department present to assist with traffic and parking.

Connecticut State Police have confirmed that there is only one approved fundraiser for Pelletier’s family, with donations exceeding $500,000 as of Wednesday morning.

In honour of Pelletier, schools in Southington were closed on Tuesday for his wake and will have an early dismissal on Wednesday for his funeral in Hartford.

Born in New Britain on August 6, 1989, Pelletier was a graduate of Southington High School in 2007. He furthered his education at Central Connecticut State University, earning his degree in 2012.

Following his graduation, Pelletier joined the Connecticut Department of Correction in June 2013 before transitioning to become a state trooper two years later. He completed his training at the Connecticut State Police Academy in December 2015 and was stationed at the Troop H barracks in Hartford.

Residing in Southington with his wife and children, Pelletier was devoted to serving and protecting his community. His dedication to duty was exemplified in his tragic passing while conducting a routine traffic stop on I-84 in Southington.

The driver responsible for Pelletier’s death, identified as 44-year-old Alex Oyola-Sanchez, was apprehended by state police after attempting to flee the scene. Oyola-Sanchez is currently held on $1.5 million bond on charges including manslaughter and evading responsibility..
