CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – The body of a fisherman who leaped off a dock on Daniel Island on Sunday has been successfully retrieved, authorities have confirmed.

The Charleston Police Department announced that Shaw’s body was found by harbor patrol in Beresford Creek, located near a dock on Feldman Court, on Tuesday.
Sgt. Chris Stinson revealed that the search for Shaw commenced just before 8 p.m. on Sunday, following reports from witnesses who saw him jump from a public dock close to Daniel Island Drive.
Collaborating with the Charleston Fire Department and a Coast Guard Helicopter, the police conducted a thorough search of the area after witnesses reported that the swimmer had begun to struggle against the current and disappeared from view.
The coroner’s office received notification of Shaw’s discovery shortly before 5 p.m. on Tuesday, bringing closure to the search efforts.
