According to a statement from the police spokesman in Kaduna, Mansir Hassan, the arrests were made on May 29, 2024. The police acted on a tip-off from a concerned citizen, leading a joint patrol team of officers from the Saminaka Division and local hunters in the Lere Local Government Area to successfully capture three suspects involved in kidnapping and cattle rustling.
The arrested individuals were identified as Isah Baffa Rabo, a 30-year-old male from Maibindiga Village; Ja’afaru Sale, a 30-year-old male from Durumi Village; and Umar Musa, a 24-year-old male from Durumi Village, all in Lere LGA. In a separate incident, following credible intelligence about the suspicious movement of an armed bandit, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Tudun Wada Zaria Division led a swift operation resulting in the arrest of Hussaini, a 70-year-old male from Tudunjukun in Zaria.
The arrest took place at around 2.50am on the same date, during which an AK-47 rifle, a locally made pistol, and three cartridges were recovered from the suspect.
