The incident took place on Saturday morning, June 1, 2024, at about 10:36 a.m., prompting a response from South Hilo patrol officers.

Details of the Arrest

According to the Hawaiʻi Police Department, officers responded to an anonymous report of a male brandishing a “machine gun” out of the window of a black Jeep Liberty. The vehicle was later found parked near Leleiwi Beach Park.
