Accident – Death – Obituary News : A tragic incident unfolded in the Cleveland metropolitan area when a 3-year-old boy was fatally stabbed in broad daylight, alongside his mother, by a woman identified as 32-year-old Bionca Ellis of Cleveland, Ohio. The North Olmsted Police Department revealed that the attack, described as a “random act of violence,” took place in the parking lot of a Giant Eagle supermarket.
Following multiple 911 calls reporting the stabbing, officers swiftly located Ms. Ellis walking towards Dover Center Road while still holding the kitchen knife used in the attack. She was promptly taken into custody without resistance. Meanwhile, the victims, 38-year-old Margot Wood and her young son Julian Wood, were rushed to St. John’s Medical Center for treatment.
Tragically, Julian succumbed to his injuries, while his mother Margot received treatment for non-life-threatening wounds. Detective Sgt. Matt Beck of the North Olmsted Police Department stated that the investigation into the motive behind the attack is ongoing, with early indications suggesting it was a completely random act.
Sgt. Beck emphasized that there were no prior interactions between the suspect and the victims before the tragic incident. While Ms. Ellis had a previous offense related to theft, she did not have a history of violent crime.
North Olmsted Mayor Nicole Dailey Jones expressed her profound sorrow over the heartbreaking incident, describing it as a “terrible tragedy for our entire community.” She extended her sympathy to the grieving family and praised the swift response of law enforcement in the aftermath of the attack.
In response to the senseless violence, a spokesperson for Giant Eagle conveyed their condolences and announced plans to offer counseling services to store teams and support the North Olmsted community during this difficult time.
