Accident – Death – Obituary News :

INDIAN HARBOUR BEACH, Fla. — A Melbourne resident has been taken into custody and is currently being held in Brevard County jail after allegedly making a hoax call that triggered a significant police presence at a woman’s residence.

According to Indian Harbour Beach police, the incident unfolded shortly before 6:30 p.m. on Friday when officers received a report about a potential hostage situation at a local home.

The caller, later identified as 52-year-old Shawn Schneider, claimed that there was someone being held at gunpoint inside the residence. This prompted law enforcement to respond with caution, arriving at the scene with firearms drawn.

Upon entering the home, officers found the female occupant visibly distressed but unharmed. She confirmed that there was no hostage situation and explained that she had been startled by the police presence.

This was not the first time law enforcement had been called to the residence for a similar false report. Earlier that day, officers had responded to another hoax call alleging a hostage situation at the same address.

Following the incident, Schneider voluntarily reached out to the police and offered to provide more information. During questioning, he admitted to making the false report anonymously.

Schneider was subsequently arrested and taken into custody at Brevard County jail on charges of making a false report. His bond has been set at $5,500.

During the process of transporting Schneider to the jail, he reportedly resisted the officers and made threatening remarks. As a result, he now faces an additional charge of resisting an officer without violence.
