GATESVILLE, Texas (KXXV) — Tragedy struck on Monday night in Gatesville, Texas, as a fatal head-on collision resulted in the death of a 50-year-old woman. The incident occurred on Highway 84, east of Gatesville, around 9:25 p.m., according to Texas DPS troopers.
Reports from authorities indicate that a 2016 Subaru Crosstrek SUV, driven by a 38-year-old man from New Mexico, was travelling westbound on Highway 84 when it veered into the eastbound lanes and collided head-on with a 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander SUV.
The driver of the Subaru confessed to falling asleep at the wheel, which led to the tragic accident. The impact claimed the life of the driver of the Mitsubishi, a 69-year-old woman from Gatesville. She was accompanied by a passenger, identified as Crystal Anne Nagle, also from Clifton.
Regrettably, Crystal Anne Nagle succumbed to her injuries at the scene of the collision. Next of kin have been informed of the devastating loss.
