Accident – Death – Obituary News : A woman is currently facing a slew of serious charges, including murder, kidnapping, and carjacking, following a tragic incident that occurred on Monday in Washington D.C., resulting in the death of a 55-year-old woman. The dreadful chain of events began unfolding at 1:11 p.m. at the Washington Hospital Center, as reported by the Metropolitan Police Department in a recent news release.

According to authorities, the incident took place when a person parked a Mazda SUV in front of the hospital with her 55-year-old mother seated in the passenger seat. The driver exited the vehicle to retrieve a wheelchair for her mother. It was at this moment that a 22-year-old woman, later identified as Kayla Kenisha Brown, emerged from the hospital with her family and proceeded to get into the Mazda SUV, driving away with the 55-year-old woman still inside.

Just 18 minutes into the ill-fated journey, the woman attempted to make a left turn onto a street but tragically collided with a building located at 601 D Street, Northwest. This building is home to the Office of Attorney General for the District of Columbia and the Washington D.C. U.S. Attorney’s Office, as confirmed by the Metropolitan Police Department.

After the crash, the suspect exited the Mazda in an attempt to flee the scene but was swiftly apprehended by a Metropolitan Police Department captain. Tragically, the woman in the passenger seat, Leslie Marie Gaines, was rushed to the hospital following the crash and was ultimately pronounced dead.

The suspect, Kayla Kenisha Brown, now faces a multitude of charges, including felony murder, kidnapping, and carjacking. Details regarding Brown’s legal representation were not immediately available. Authorities are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the incident, with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner slated to perform an autopsy to ascertain the cause and manner of Leslie Marie Gaines’ untimely death.
