Brooks County, Georgia (WALB) – An 18-year-old individual has been taken into custody following a dramatic chase involving the Georgia State Patrol (GSP) in Brooks County on Monday, June 3rd.

According to GSP reports, at approximately 9:51 p.m., troopers were conducting routine patrols along Georgia 133 near mile marker 4 when they spotted a white BMW travelling at an excessive speed.

Despite attempts by a trooper to signal the driver to pull over, the vehicle continued to accelerate, prompting a pursuit by law enforcement.

The chase eventually came to a dramatic end at Pauline Church Road, where the BMW was clocked at an astonishing 152 miles per hour before colliding with a concrete barrier while attempting to negotiate a turn onto Georgia 133 and Georgia 76, rendering the vehicle inoperable.

The driver, identified as Russell Walker, aged 18, was promptly apprehended by GSP officers and taken into custody.

As the investigation continues, WALB is actively working to gather more details about any potential charges that may be filed against Walker, as well as any injuries sustained during the incident.
