Accident – Death – Obituary News :

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A woman from Florida had a harrowing experience recently when she encountered an escaped inmate inside her vehicle.

Shortly after 4:40 a.m., the Lady Lake Police Department responded to a call about a vehicle burglary in progress.

The woman recounted to authorities that she heard the alarm on her BMW go off, prompting her to investigate. Upon opening the passenger door, she was confronted by the inmate, identified as Jesse Hall, 31, who proceeded to grab her arm.

Managing to free herself, the woman swiftly retreated back into her home, where she armed herself while waiting for law enforcement to arrive, as detailed in the arrest affidavit.

After officers located Hall near the BMW, he attempted to flee but was eventually apprehended and surrendered while facing the barrel of a gun.

During a search of Hall, a small Taser resembling a key fob was discovered on his person. The victim, in a state of distress, emerged from her residence.

The key fob was confirmed to belong to the woman.

Body camera footage captured the moment of Hall’s arrest, showing him lying down in the middle of a road.

Expressing confusion, Hall asked an officer, “What’d I get the cops called on me for?”

According to the woman, the car alarm being triggered by her neighbor’s cats was a common occurrence, prompting her to investigate the situation.

Upon searching the vehicle, authorities found a black Nokia cellphone that did not belong to the woman. Hall claimed ownership of the phone, stating it had received calls from an individual named “Joe DiBlasi.”

Providing an explanation, Hall mentioned that his friend Joe had dropped him off to visit a woman in the neighbourhood, where some unspecified events transpired.

Initially providing a false name, “Jess Hillman,” Hall’s true identity was revealed through fingerprint scanning, confirming him as Jesse James Hall, a 31-year-old who had escaped from an Orlando prison on May 22.

Police records indicated that Hall had been sentenced to seven years in prison in 2019 for two counts of grand theft auto and various drug-related offences.

Following his apprehension, Hall was taken to Lake County Jail, where he remained in custody without bond.
