Accident – Death – Obituary News :
A woman aged 38 in North Carolina has been arrested for the alleged murder of a man and his cat, stabbing them multiple times.
Lauren Ashley Fullerton was taken into custody on Thursday and charged with one count of first-degree murder in the killing of 59-year-old Todd Allen Arnold, authorities revealed.
Alongside the murder charge, Fullerton also faces a charge of felony cruelty to animals.
According to a press release from the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call at a residence on Venus Drive in Greensboro, North Carolina, around 9:20 p.m. on May 30. The home is situated approximately 75 miles west of Raleigh.
Upon arrival, first responders found Arnold, who had sustained multiple stab wounds to his torso and other injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities also discovered a cat on the property that had been fatally stabbed.
“Following the investigation, 38-year-old Lauren Ashley Fullerton was charged with 1st Degree Murder and Felony Cruelty to Animals,” the release stated. “The Felony Cruelty to Animals charge stemmed from an animal on the property also found deceased during the investigation.”
Fullerton is currently held at the Guilford County Detention Center in Greensboro, North Carolina.
According to a probable cause affidavit obtained by High Point, North Carolina Fox affiliate WGHP, Fullerton made the initial 911 call and mentioned drugs being used at the Venus Drive home. She reportedly called the emergency number four times, mentioning fentanyl being present before confessing to stabbing someone.
The report indicates that Fullerton claimed Arnold attempted a sexual act with her, leading her to stab him and his cat.
However, responding deputies noted that Arnold appeared to have been dead for several days while Fullerton was staying at the residence. In addition to the stab wounds, deputies observed blunt force trauma to Arnold’s head, as reported by Greensboro, North Carolina CBS affiliate WFMY.
The nature of the relationship between Fullerton and Arnold remains unclear, and authorities have not disclosed why she was at his residence or a possible motive for the alleged stabbing.
The sheriff’s office did not respond immediately to a request from Law&Crime for further information on the case.
Fullerton is currently held in the Guilford County Jail without bond, and she is scheduled to appear in court on August 1.
