North Olmsted, Ohio – A heartbreaking incident unfolded outside a supermarket in North Olmsted, Ohio, as a 3-year-old boy tragically lost his life in a random stabbing attack. The shocking incident took place in the parking lot of the Giant Eagle grocery store, located just 15 miles southwest of Cleveland, on June 3.
Authorities responded to multiple distress calls reporting a stabbing at the supermarket. Upon arriving at the scene, police found a mother and her young son, both victims of the senseless act of violence. The mother and child were immediately provided with medical assistance before being rushed to St. John Medical Center in Westlake, Ohio, for further treatment.
North Olmsted Mayor Nicole Dailey Jones expressed condolences, stating, “Our hearts go out to the two victims of what appears to be a random act of violence.” Tragically, the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office later confirmed that the young boy succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The medical examiner scheduled an autopsy for the young victim on June 4. Out of respect for the family’s privacy, the boy’s identity has not been disclosed to the public at this time.
Authorities swiftly took a suspect, identified as 32-year-old Bionca Ellis, into custody at the scene. The investigation into the incident is ongoing as law enforcement officials work to uncover the motives behind this tragic event.
