Bond Denied for Suspect Involved in Fatal High-Speed Chase

In a recent court hearing, bond has been denied for 31-year-old Jovontae Marquelle Hill from La Mesa, California, following a high-speed chase on Interstate 85 that resulted in the tragic death of an unborn child. The pursuit, which involved a 2023 GMC Yukon, ended in a crash near mile marker 175 after a Trooper performed a PIT maneuver. Hill is facing charges including feticide by vehicle and felony fleeing.

Withdrawn Bond Request in Another High-Speed Chase Incident

In a separate incident, a South Carolina man, Joshua Bennett Dornellas, is accused of assaulting a woman, kidnapping their three-year-old son, and setting the vehicle on fire with the child inside. The defense withdrew their bond request, and the case is being continued for further investigation.

Details of the Kidnapping and Fire Incident

The harrowing incident involving Dornellas began in South Carolina, where he threatened to harm the child while driving on Interstate 85. As he crossed into Georgia, a pursuit ensued, during which Dornellas set the vehicle on fire and jumped out, leaving his son with severe burns. The child, identified as little Bennett Dornellas, is currently fighting for his life at the Augusta Burn Center.
