Two individuals tragically lost their lives in a fatal road accident that took place in Jashore’s Benapole early Tuesday morning. The incident occurred on the Jashore-Benapole highway, right in front of the Navaron Forest Office. According to Sub Inspector Jayanta Kumar Basu of the Navaron Highway Police Station, a truck lost control and veered off the road, resulting in the deaths of the two victims.

The deceased have been identified as Nasir Uddin, a 62-year-old retired professor from Navaron Degree College, and Ali Baksha, a 65-year-old night guard for the Japan Bangladesh Cultural Exchange Association. Both men were residents of the Navaron Forest neighbourhood, as confirmed by the police.

SI Basu provided further details, stating, “Nasir Uddin and Ali Baksha were on their way to the mosque for Fajr prayers when a freight truck travelling from Jashore to Benapole lost control and ran them over. Unfortunately, they succumbed to their injuries on the spot. The truck subsequently crashed into a nearby ditch following the collision.”

Upon receiving reports from local residents, the police promptly arrived at the scene and recovered the bodies of the victims. Efforts are currently underway to track down the driver and his assistant, both of whom fled the scene following the tragic accident.
