3 Friends Seen Hugging Each Other Moments Before Being Swept Away in Flood, Devastating Video Goes Viral

Trending News: Three friends were caught on tape giving each other a devastating hug just before they were washed away by floodwaters in Italy. They were reportedly trying to grab onto each other to prevent themselves from being carried away by the surging waters when they found themselves stranded on an island in the middle of a river.

They are identified as 20-year-old Patrizia Cormos, 23-year-old Bianca Doros, her friend, and 25-year-old boyfriend, Cristian Molnar, according to Daily Mail. The trio was only a “few meters from the safety of the river bank,” the rescuers informed the newspaper.

Later on, two bodies—thought to be those of Cormos and Doros—were found roughly a kilometre from the location. Molnar is still missing, and rescuers have declared that they “won’t stop until we find the third missing person.” The terrifying footage was also posted on Instagram by the outlet. They wrote, “The tragic last moments of three friends caught in Italy’s flash floods have been revealed.”

“May their souls rest in peace,” one Instagram user penned. The similar sentiment was expressed by several others. “I can’t imagine what was going through their minds at the time. So sad,” said a second. “This is heartbreaking,” a third person said.

One of the women called the firefighters, who then informed them of the trio’s predicament, according to the Telegraph. The three were carried away by the swiftly flowing stream before they could take any action after they hurried to the scene and tried to save them.

Firefighters’ Efforts and Mayor’s Condolences

“We threw them a rope, but they were literally swallowed up by the flood waters in front of our eyes. Giorgio Basile, the head of Udine’s regional firefighters, told the outlet, “We watched them disappear.”

“The main element is not so much the rain, it is the power of the river, the very strong currents,” Basile stated, “There are gorges, there is a backwash of water and even for the experts it is a particularly treacherous task.”

Mayor Michele De Sabata of the neighboring town of Premariacco expressed his condolences and added, “It only took minutes.” He stated, “They found themselves in an unpredictable situation. Those who live in Premariacco know the river and how conditions can change quickly. The three kids arrived when it was sunny. They could not have known what was about to happen.”
