Police authorities in Kabale District have apprehended two individuals from Rwanda who are suspected of committing the heinous crime of murdering an 83-year-old man in Kitumba Sub County.
The victim, identified as Geoffrey Twinomujuni Ntegyire, was a long-time resident of Karujabura cell in Kitumba sub county of Kabale district.
The suspects, Kwizera Desire and his wife Uwingabire, were captured last Saturday in Kisoro District as they attempted to flee the area.
According to a police report, the tragic incident took place last Friday around 8:00 PM at the residence of the deceased in Karujabura cell.
After brutally attacking Ntegyire with a hammer, the perpetrators proceeded to steal some of the victim’s belongings, including a mattress, an iron box, a radio, a suitcase, and a bicycle before making an escape.
Elly Maate, the Police spokesperson for the Kigezi Region, stated that the suspects were intercepted at the Bunagana border by security personnel following a tip-off from vigilant residents.
