A man from Port Charlotte has been taken into custody after allegedly exposing his genitals in three different stores in the area. The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office received reports of the incidents, leading to the arrest of 22-year-old Jonhoi Francis.
Incidents at Various Stores
On May 29, a shopper at the Marshalls store on Veterans Boulevard in Port Charlotte alerted authorities after witnessing a man with his penis partially exposed inside the establishment. Surveillance footage from the store confirmed the incident, showing Francis walking around with his genitals exposed.
Later that same day, deputies responded to a similar report at the Burlington Coat Factory on Cochran Boulevard. The surveillance video from this store also identified Francis as the individual who had committed the indecent act at Marshalls earlier in the day.
On May 31, North Port Police contacted the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, reporting another incident involving Francis at a Walmart on Tamiami Trail. Francis was seen exposing himself in the store before leaving in a gray Ford Fusion towards Charlotte County.
Arrest and Confession
A deputy located Francis’ vehicle and conducted a traffic stop, leading to his arrest. Francis agreed to speak with authorities about the investigation and initially denied being at Marshalls or Burlington Coat Factory. However, after being shown the surveillance footage, he admitted to his actions.
During questioning, Francis claimed that he was unaware of his genitals being exposed and mentioned seeing a video on Twitter that inspired him to try the act himself. He also revealed that he possessed an “international driver’s license” instead of a Florida driver’s license.
Legal Consequences
As a result of his actions, Francis now faces a charge of exposure of sexual organs. Additionally, he was taken to the Charlotte County Jail for a traffic offense. The authorities are continuing their investigation into the incidents, and Francis will have to answer for his actions in court.
