Guwahati, June 3: Three individuals have been apprehended by the Tinsukia police in relation to the alleged murder of a 20-year-old student from the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) using a sharp weapon. The victim, identified as Aditya Bhumij, resided in the same locality as the accused.

Following the incident, the accused, identified as Abered Chetri, Gaurav Kumar, and Ved Pait, who hail from a tea garden area in Margherita, were arrested on Monday. Margherita Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Shambhavi Mishra stated, “There was a clash between two groups, and the victim was alone when these youths reportedly attacked him with a machete.”

According to Mishra, the altercation took place on Sunday evening when the accused individuals engaged in an argument with the ITI student and his companions. Approximately an hour later, they returned with a machete. Aditya, who was alone and on his way home, was brutally stabbed multiple times.

Upon realizing that Aditya had not returned home by 10 pm, his family members initiated a search and discovered him near a forest area with severe injuries.

The investigation into the tragic incident is ongoing, and authorities are working diligently to bring the perpetrators to justice. Aditya’s untimely demise has sent shockwaves through the community, prompting calls for justice and increased safety measures.
