Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A devastating two-vehicle collision in Tacoma, Washington, claimed the lives of a Columbus man and a soldier from Lewis-McChord in the early hours of Sunday morning. The incident occurred on State Route 512 near Canyon Road East on June 2, resulting in the tragic deaths of 29-year-old Tommy Fairbairn, a Columbus native, and 22-year-old Wendell Cerio from Arizona.

According to reports, Fairbairn was driving westbound with two other passengers when their vehicle was struck head-on by a wrong-way driver, identified as 23-year-old Candy Soita. Fairbairn and Cerio, both stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, succumbed to their injuries at the scene of the crash. The third passenger was admitted to the hospital but has since been released.

Authorities have confirmed that the suspect driver, Soita, is in custody facing two counts of DUI vehicular homicide. Shockingly, she had a 19-month-old child in the vehicle with her at the time of the collision.
