FRANKLIN (Somerset) – Authorities have named a 43-year-old man from Franklin Township who tragically lost his life in a motorcycle crash in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The victim, identified as Darnell Montgomery, was pronounced dead at the scene by Franklin Township Public Safety Director Quovella M. Maeweather.
Emergency services were alerted to the incident at around 12:17 a.m. on Saturday, following a 911 call reporting a collision involving a motorcycle at the intersection of Easton Avenue and DeMott Lane.
According to police reports, Montgomery succumbed to his injuries at 1:01 a.m., despite the efforts of first responders at the scene.
The Franklin Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Bureau is currently conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the crash.
As a result of the incident, a section of Easton Avenue had to be closed for approximately three hours.
