PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — Maryland State Police have launched an investigation into a tragic motorcycle accident that occurred early Monday morning.
Details of the Accident
According to authorities, the incident took place just after 3:00 a.m. on northbound Interstate 95 at Maryland Route 198. Reports indicated that a motorcycle collided with a car in the merge lanes of north I-95 to MD 198.
Tragically, the motorcycle struck the rear of the car, resulting in fatal consequences for the rider. The victim has been identified as 21-year-old Johny Carrasco from Silver Spring.
Response and Investigation
Emergency responders pronounced Carrasco dead at the scene of the accident. Fortunately, no other injuries were reported in connection with the crash.
Following the collision, northbound I-95 was closed for over an hour to facilitate the investigation into the circumstances of the incident. State Police are currently working to determine the cause of the crash.
