COLLEGE STATION, Texas (FOX 44) – UPDATE: Following a tragic incident in College Station, Texas, the suspect involved in a double homicide case has now been formally charged with Capital Murder.

Suspect Charged with Capital Murder

The College Station Police Department has identified the suspect as 19-year-old Michael Anthony Epperson. Epperson was recently transferred from Bell County to the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center. The department’s Major Crimes Unit conducted a thorough investigation into the shooting deaths of Epperson’s grandfather, 59-year-old Seferino Aleman, and his brother, 22-year-old Isaac Garcia. Additionally, it was revealed that Epperson’s uncle sustained a gunshot wound to the arm during the incident.

Alongside the Capital Murder charge, Epperson also faces two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, which were filed on the night of the shooting. Currently, his bond has been set at $3 million.

Details of the Incident

The events unfolded when Epperson was apprehended on May 24. Authorities were initially alerted to a shooting in the 2000 block of Colgate Drive, prompting a swift response from law enforcement. Residents in the area were advised to steer clear of the vicinity.

After the incident, a search was launched for Epperson, who was spotted leaving the scene in a 2017 Red Nissan Sentra with distinctive black rims and a Longhorn sticker on the rear window.

At 3:16 a.m. on Friday, police announced that Epperson was wanted on two charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. A subsequent update at 4:02 a.m. confirmed his arrest.

Collaborative Efforts in Apprehension

The Killeen Police Department played a crucial role in assisting the College Station Police in locating Epperson. Following his arrest, Epperson was extradited back to the Brazos County Jail before being transferred to the Bell County Jail for further processing.

Investigations revealed the tragic outcome of the incident, with Aleman and Garcia succumbing to their injuries – one at the scene and the other at a nearby hospital. Meanwhile, Epperson’s uncle sustained injuries from the gunshot within the residence.

Efforts were also made to retrieve any evidence related to the case, with College Station Police K9 units and K9 handlers from neighbouring agencies conducting an extensive search.
