A tragic incident unfolded in Sitio Kimbuaya, Suyo Proper, Suyo, Ilocos Sur, as a 36-year-old construction worker named Danny Bugtong succumbed to his injuries in the hospital after being stabbed by his 70-year-old drinking companion.
The altercation stemmed from a previous confrontation where the suspect returned home to find his son with facial injuries, allegedly caused by one of the individuals he was drinking with. This discovery ignited a rage within the suspect, prompting him to seek revenge.
PCPT. Godofredo Ribuyaco, Officer-in-Charge at Suyo Police Station, shared, “Upon learning that his son had been struck, he saw the damage on his son’s face… this likely triggered his anger, leading him to grab a knife.”
Intent on confronting those responsible for his son’s injuries, the suspect returned to the drinking session but mistakenly targeted Danny Bugtong, stabbing him in the chest in a fit of rage.
Following the brutal attack, the suspect fled the scene, evading authorities momentarily. However, law enforcement officers managed to apprehend him later, recovering the murder weapon in the process.
In response to this senseless act of violence, Bugtong’s grieving family has vowed to pursue justice by filing homicide charges against the perpetrator.
