SOUTHINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) – A man is in a serious condition following a motorcycle collision on Sunday night in Southington.
Authorities were alerted to the incident involving a motorcycle at approximately 10:45 p.m. at the junction of South Main Street and Mulberry Street.
Details of the Incident
Reports indicate that a 66-year-old male was operating a 2003 Yamaha XVS1100 motorcycle when it collided with a 2013 Nissan Xterra. The crash occurred as the Nissan attempted to turn onto the on-ramp of I-84.
Emergency services rushed to the scene and the motorcyclist was promptly taken to a nearby medical facility with severe injuries. Fortunately, the 34-year-old driver of the Nissan emerged unscathed from the collision.
Road Closure and Investigation
Following the crash, the I-84 Eastbound Exit 29 on-ramp was temporarily closed off to traffic. However, it has since been reopened to motorists. Authorities are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
