Accident – Death – Obituary News :

In a shocking incident, an Air India flight travelling from Kozhikode to Bahrain had to be diverted to Mumbai after a disruptive passenger attempted to open the aircraft door and caused chaos on board. The incident took place on June 1, and the accused, identified as Abdul Nadukkandiyil, 25, from Kerala, was handed over to authorities upon landing in Mumbai.

Details of the Incident

According to reports, the disruptive behaviour began when the flight, IX-473, was en route to Bahrain. Abdul, who was seated at 15T, suddenly started assaulting crew members and tried to open the aircraft door without any provocation. Despite efforts from the crew to calm him down, Abdul continued to cause trouble by verbally abusing other passengers and threatening their safety.

Due to the escalating situation and the proximity of Abdul’s seat to the emergency exit, the crew decided to change his seat. However, he persisted in his disruptive behaviour, prompting the pilot to take the decision to divert the flight to Mumbai. The aircraft made an emergency landing at Mumbai Airport’s Bay V-10 at 1.30 pm.

Upon landing, the crew handed Abdul over to the Air India security department, who then brought him to the Sahar police station. A case was registered against him under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including voluntarily causing hurt, endangering life, provocation to breach of peace, criminal intimidation, and the Aircraft Act section related to assault and intimidation.
