Los Angeles: Authorities in California are seeking the public’s assistance in locating 23-year-old Indian student Nitheesha Kandula, who mysteriously disappeared in Los Angeles earlier this week.
Nitheesha, originally from Hyderabad and currently studying at California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB), was last seen on May 28 before being reported missing on May 30.
Chief of Police at CSUSB, John Guttierez, took to social media to issue a #MissingPersonAlert, urging anyone with information on Nitheesha’s whereabouts to contact the authorities at (909) 537-5165.
Described as a 5 feet 6 inches tall woman, weighing approximately 160 pounds (72.5 kgs) with black hair and black eyes, Nitheesha may have been driving a 2021 Toyota Corolla with a California license plate.
Individuals with any information regarding Nitheesha’s disappearance are encouraged to reach out to the CSUSB Police Department at (909) 538-7777 or the LAPD’s Southwest Division at (213) 485-2582.
The circumstances leading to Nitheesha’s disappearance remain unclear, prompting authorities to intensify the search efforts. The FBI is actively involved in the investigation, offering a $10,000 reward for any information that may lead to Nitheesha’s whereabouts.
Similar Previous Case of Missing Indian Student
This recent case bears resemblance to a previous incident involving 29-year-old Mayushi Bhagat, an Indian student who went missing in the US back in April 2019. Bhagat disappeared after leaving her New Jersey apartment on April 29 and was reported missing in May of the same year.
The FBI has also announced a $10,000 reward for information that could help locate Mayushi Bhagat and bring those responsible to justice.
