A 33-year-old man was apprehended by the authorities for unlawful possession of firearms at a checkpoint in Makati City on Sunday, June 2, according to a statement released by the Makati City Police.
The suspect, identified as “Jonathan” and a resident of Barangay Olympia in Makati, was stopped by police officers conducting an Oplan Sita operation in Barangay Guadalupe Nuevo. The officers flagged him down for multiple traffic violations, including the unauthorised use of a blinker, failure to wear a safety helmet, and operating a motorcycle without side mirrors.
During the routine verification process, the officers noticed a handgun tucked into the suspect’s waist, prompting them to request his firearm documentation. However, the suspect was unable to provide any valid documents.
Upon searching Jonathan, the police discovered a .45 caliber Colt pistol without a serial number, along with a fully loaded magazine containing live ammunition. The suspect was immediately taken into custody and will be charged for Violation of R.A. 10591, also known as the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition.

The Makati City Police confirmed that Jonathan is now under the custody of the Makati CPS and will face legal consequences for his actions.
