Charna Gilbert : “Fatal Crash in Polk County: Man Killed in Accident”

A tragic incident unfolded in Polk County, Florida early Sunday morning, resulting in the death of a man who was struck by a vehicle. According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the incident took place around 1:40 a.m. on K-Ville Avenue near the intersection with Old Dixie Highway in Auburndale.

The driver involved in the incident has been identified as 39-year-old Charna Gilbert. Gilbert informed deputies that she collided with something dark on the roadway. She promptly stopped her vehicle and searched for the object she had hit, but to no avail. Subsequently, she contacted emergency services for assistance.

Upon arrival at the scene, first responders commenced their search and eventually located an older adult man clad in dark clothing. The man, who seemed to have been walking on the south side of the road, had sustained severe head injuries and was declared deceased by the PCSO. Authorities are currently endeavouring to locate and inform his next of kin.

Following the incident, Gilbert underwent evaluation by deputies, who found no evidence of impairment. The circumstances surrounding the tragic event remain under investigation as law enforcement officials work to determine the sequence of events leading up to the collision.
