A 37-year-old convicted felon from Marion County has been arrested after allegedly loitering outside a local bar and being found in possession of a stolen gun.

On the night of Wednesday, May 29, at around 11:35 p.m., two deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at the Pig Pen Saloon located at 20650 NE 160th Avenue Road in Fort McCoy regarding a suspicious individual lurking near the establishment.

The business owner had reported to the sheriff’s office that a shirtless man, described as being “covered in tattoos,” was hanging around the bar, which was currently under renovation. The man, later identified as Roy Alex Bebee, had been seen at the location for approximately an hour and was observed carrying what appeared to be a “black gun,” as per the arrest report.

Before the officers arrived at the scene, the MCSO Air One unit spotted Bebee on the dock near the bar. Bebee reportedly waved at the helicopter before crossing the street and disappearing into a wooded area.

He was then seen crouching near a tree before returning to the bar. Deputies swiftly approached Bebee, who claimed that he had been given permission by the person renovating the bar to be there, according to the report.

One of the deputies noted in the report that Bebee admitted to spending about an hour at the location and mentioned that he thought he heard gunshots or fireworks in the vicinity.

Upon investigation, a spent 9mm shell casing was discovered in the area where Bebee had been present. Additionally, a black Taurus 9mm pistol was found in the nearby woods where Bebee had been observed crouching by the aviation unit.

The gun’s serial number revealed that it had been reported stolen in Marion County on October 11, 2022, from the victim’s vehicle’s center console.

A check of Bebee’s criminal record uncovered a previous felony conviction in Marion County for dealing in stolen property.

After being informed of his Miranda rights, Bebee denied any knowledge of the firearm and claimed he had not entered the wooded area across the street.

Bebee was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he is currently held on a bail amount of £15,000. He faces charges of possession of a weapon or ammunition by a convicted felon, use or display of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and grand theft of a firearm.

According to jail records, Bebee’s court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday, July 2, at 9 a.m.
