PORTLAND, Ore. — A 25-year-old man, Ra Fet, is currently in police custody facing a string of charges after allegedly kidnapping a 47-year-old woman in Portland, Oregon, in the early hours of Friday morning.
The unsettling incident unfolded at approximately 1:40 a.m. when Fet reportedly encountered the woman near SE 146th and Division and offered her a ride home. However, when they reached SE 112th, the woman attempted to exit the vehicle. Instead of allowing her to leave, Fet accelerated the car, preventing her from escaping.
According to authorities, a physical altercation ensued as the woman tried to free herself from Fet’s grasp. In the course of the struggle, Fet allegedly struck the woman in the face. Eventually, she managed to leap out of the moving car and flee on foot.
Following her escape, the injured woman sought refuge and assistance, prompting police intervention. Officers located her hiding in a nearby driveway, where she was treated for cuts and bruises sustained during the ordeal.
Approximately 40 minutes later, law enforcement identified and apprehended Fet after spotting his vehicle. He was promptly taken into custody and booked into Multnomah County Jail on a litany of charges, including kidnapping, sex abuse, coercion, menacing, assault, reckless driving, and reckless endangerment.
Despite the arrest, authorities have refrained from disclosing further details about the case, citing an ongoing investigation. Individuals possessing pertinent information are urged to contact the Portland police department to aid in the inquiry.
