Accident – Death – Obituary News : A teenager has been apprehended by the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office following allegations of fatally assaulting another teenager and injuring an adult near Wildwood on Saturday.

According to reports, deputies were summoned to a stabbing incident at 6611 County Road 148 around 10 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered two victims, one adult, and one teenager, both of whom had sustained stab wounds.

The tragic incident took place during a sleepover that the teenage victim was hosting at their residence. The suspect, who was familiar to the victim, arrived unannounced and aggressively knocked on the door. When the victim went to unlock the door, the suspect forced their way into the home.

Once inside, the suspect proceeded to stab the victim and threatened another individual present. The adult victim intervened and was also attacked by the suspect. Emergency medical services provided immediate assistance to both victims at the scene before airlifting them to local hospitals for further medical attention.

Subsequent investigations revealed that a 16-year-old had been identified as the suspect in the case and had fled the scene on foot. With the assistance of the sheriff’s office helicopter, the teenager was apprehended shortly afterward.

Tragically, the 14-year-old victim succumbed to their injuries at 1:19 a.m., while the adult victim continues to receive treatment for their wounds in the hospital.

The 16-year-old suspect has been detained at the Sumter County Jail and is facing charges of premeditated first-degree murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill. Both the suspect and the victim had withdrawn from Sumter County Schools and were being homeschooled at the time of the incident.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with authorities exploring the possibility of additional charges against the suspect.
