PHNOM PENH (Khmer Times): A French citizen has been apprehended in Thailand following the interception of a suspicious package containing cocaine destined for an individual in Siem Reap, Cambodia.

On May 29, Pol. Maj. Gen. Panthana Nuchanart, deputy director of the Immigration Department, revealed the findings of the investigation.

According to reports, employees at the Rama 9 service centre raised concerns about a package, prompting law enforcement to conduct a thorough inspection.

Upon inspection, authorities discovered approximately 10 grams of cocaine concealed within a red remote-controlled car along with a remote control device.

The parcel was addressed to a recipient named ‘Jerome’ in Siem Reap, Cambodia.

Subsequent investigations led police to the sender, who operated under the alias ‘Gregore’ and resided in a residential area in the Phatthanakan region of Suan Luang district, Bangkok.

The suspect, identified as a 39-year-old French national known as ‘Macon’, shared a residence with a Thai woman.

On April 23, 2024, a court-issued arrest warrant charged Macon with attempted illegal exportation of type 2 narcotics (cocaine) for commercial purposes and dissemination of narcotics to the public.

During interrogation, the suspect confessed to purchasing the drugs from an unidentified African man at a nightclub in Bangkok.

He further admitted that he intended to continue his drug trafficking activities if not for the intervention of law enforcement authorities. – Khmer Times
