APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A 28-year-old man, identified as Jacob Naro, was arrested in Apple Valley after allegedly carjacking a woman and leading police on a pursuit.
The incident occurred on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at 7:58 am, at a Shell Gas Station located at 8986 Deep Creek Road in Apple Valley. According to reports, Naro approached a customer standing near her vehicle and attempted to grab her cellphone. When the victim resisted, he forcibly took her car keys and pushed her to the ground before driving away in her black 2014 Mustang GT.
Following the carjacking, deputies located the stolen vehicle and initiated a pursuit. Naro drove recklessly during the chase, endangering other motorists by driving on the wrong side of the road and disregarding traffic signals.
The pursuit came to an end at Del Taco on Highway 138 near Interstate 15, where Naro was apprehended without further incident. He was subsequently booked into the High Desert Detention Center on charges of robbery, carjacking, felony evading, and evading by driving in opposite lanes of traffic. Naro is currently being held on $100,000.00 bail.
Fortunately, neither the victim nor the gas station employee who intervened required medical treatment.
