MELVILLE, La. (KLFY)– A burglary at a residence in Melville has left the community in shock after approximately $18,600 worth of items were stolen on May 16. The Melville Police Department is currently conducting a thorough investigation into the incident.

According to authorities, the burglary took place at 729 Jackson Lane, with evidence suggesting that multiple individuals may have been involved. One suspect, identified as 32-year-old Rodney Sanders of Melville, is currently at large. A warrant has been issued for his arrest on charges of aggravated burglary, felony theft, criminal damage to property, and criminal trespassing.

Among the items reported stolen from the home are jewellery, collectible coins, legal documents, firearms, and approximately $9,000 in cash. Shockingly, the homeowner was in the hospital at the time of the burglary, adding to the distress of the situation.

Fortunately, some of the stolen items, including jewellery, coins, and 11 weapons, were discovered and recovered at an abandoned property located at 1108 1st Street in Melville, thanks to the efforts of the Melville Police Department.

At present, the exact number of individuals involved in the burglary and the full extent of the stolen items remain unknown.
