Accident – Death – Obituary News : Thane: The Thane crime branch apprehended a 22-year-old drug dealer and confiscated approximately 100 grams of Mephedrone (MD) powder valued at Rs 2 lakh. The culprit, identified as Kamran Nafis Shaikh, hails from Charnipada, Mumbra, as per a police official from the Mumbra police station. Acting on a tip-off about a man matching a specific description heading towards Y-junction, the police set up a trap on Thursday.
During the interception, Shaikh was searched, revealing 100 grams of MD powder in his possession. In addition, the police seized his motorcycle and mobile phone, which were allegedly used in the criminal activities. Initial investigations suggest that the accused has been involved in drug peddling for the past few months.
There are suspicions that the culprit may have been part of a larger drug distribution network operating in and around the city. The authorities have initiated a thorough investigation to determine the source of the narcotics and the intended recipients. Nishikant Karlikar, the investigating officer, stated, “We are probing into the possibility of the accused’s involvement in a significant drug supply chain within the city.”
