Authorities in the county have confirmed the identity of one of the victims involved in a tragic two-vehicle collision on the Santa Monica (405) Freeway near Culver City. The man who lost his life in the fiery crash has been identified as Clifton Gore, Jr., aged 74, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner’s office.
The incident took place in the early hours of Thursday when a Toyota Prius and a commercial truck collided on the northbound freeway near National Boulevard. The impact of the collision resulted in both vehicles catching fire, which led to a devastating outcome.
Upon receiving the emergency call, officers from the California Highway Patrol rushed to the scene. Despite the efforts of the Los Angeles Fire Department personnel, Clifton Gore was pronounced dead at the crash site. Tragically, a female victim who was also involved in the collision has not yet been identified.
As a result of the crash, the CHP issued a SigAlert and closed all lanes of the freeway for an extended period to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances leading to the collision.
