PRINCESS ANNE, Md.- Maryland State Police are currently conducting an investigation into a homicide that occurred at the Eastern Correctional Institution in Somerset County.
The incident took place on May 31 at approximately 3:30 pm, and the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit was informed about the inmate’s death by investigators from the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services Internal Investigative Unit on June 1.
The deceased inmate has been identified as 49-year-old Eugene Stanford, who was serving a sentence at the Eastern Correctional Institution in Princess Anne.
Authorities have identified a suspect in connection with the homicide, who is also an inmate at the facility. However, no charges have been filed against the suspect at this time, and their identity is being withheld until formal charges are brought.
The State Police Homicide Unit, along with crime scene technicians and investigators from the DPSCS Internal Investigative Unit, are actively working on the case to gather more information and evidence.
