CHENNAI: Seven individuals, including three juveniles, have been taken into custody by the Tiruvallur district police following the tragic murder of a 28-year-old man, identified as Sathish, during a clash at a birthday celebration in Movur village, Tiruvallur district.
The victim, Sathish, who worked as a casual labourer, resided with his sister after losing their parents at a young age. The fateful incident occurred on Thursday night when Sathish left home to attend a friend’s birthday party.
According to police reports, the gathering turned chaotic as some attendees consumed alcohol, leading to a heated argument before everyone dispersed. The following morning, villagers stumbled upon Sathish’s lifeless body near a lake in Vengathur and promptly informed the authorities.
Manavalan Nagar Police swiftly launched a murder investigation upon discovering external injuries on Sathish’s body, indicating foul play. Subsequent inquiries led to the apprehension of Dinesh (19), Ajith (23), Abi (23), Lakshmi (38), and three underage suspects in connection with the brutal homicide.
Law enforcement officials disclosed that Dinesh and Ajith engaged in a verbal altercation with Sathish, culminating in a fatal altercation. While the adult suspects were remanded in judicial custody, the juvenile offenders were placed under the care of a government home for boys.
