NANCE COUNTY, Neb. (KSNB) – A wild party at an AirBnB rental property in southwestern Nance County on Friday night resulted in chaos and injuries for two deputies. The incident began when Nance County Dispatch received a report of a large party at 10:45 p.m., with loud music and minors consuming alcohol.

Upon arrival, Nance County Deputies were met with over 100 partygoers and more than 20 vehicles on the property. As the deputies approached, many partygoers fled in a panic, running towards their vehicles in an attempt to escape.

The chaotic scene escalated as partygoers drove recklessly in an attempt to flee the property. Eight vehicles crashed into ditches along Valley Road or became stuck on the property itself. In the chaos, two deputies sustained minor injuries after being struck by fleeing vehicles.

Further investigation revealed that the property had been rented out by an 18-year-old through the AirBnB app. The damage inside the property, including graffiti on walls, furniture damage, and floor damage, was estimated to be over $3,000. Additionally, several headstones in a neighbouring cemetery were damaged by the fleeing vehicles.

Deputies issued over 30 citations for Minors in Possession of Alcohol and confiscated hundreds of alcoholic beverages from the property. Additional charges are pending as the investigation continues.

Recovery efforts for the damaged and abandoned vehicles were temporarily halted due to poor visibility and safety concerns for the recovery crew and officers. These efforts are expected to resume during daylight hours on Saturday.

Assistance in handling the aftermath of the incident was provided by the Merrick County Sheriff’s Office, Howard County Sheriff’s Office, and Smith & Sons Repair LLC.
