Terrell Leon Walker : “Georgia Man Arrested in Fatal Shooting Case”

Police in Sanford, Florida have announced a second arrest in connection to a shooting incident that occurred in April, resulting in the death of a 17-year-old boy. Terrell Leon Walker, 21, was apprehended in Georgia by the Albany-Dougherty Special Investigative Unit, according to a statement released by the Sanford Police Department. Walker faces charges of second-degree murder and attempted robbery with a firearm, following an arrest warrant issued earlier this year.

The fatal shooting of 17-year-old Sadarion Cosby led to the arrest of another individual, 15-year-old Zion Carter, who also faces charges of second-degree murder and attempted robbery with a firearm. The incident took place on April 9 near the intersection of Ellen Place and Scott Drive in the Washington Oaks neighborhood, where Cosby was among a group involved in a drug deal that turned into a robbery attempt.

According to Deputy Chief Trekelle Perkins, the driver of a parked Kia K5 sedan, who was armed, fired a shot in self-defense when one of the individuals in the group attempted to rob him. The bullet struck Cosby in the abdomen, resulting in his death. Perkins stated that the driver acted out of fear for his safety, as Cosby and his associates had planned to rob him.

After the shooting, a person in a multicolored hoodie, believed to be Walker, fired back at the fleeing vehicle. Two of Cosby’s associates ran away, while the person in the hoodie and another individual helped Cosby to a nearby house. Despite being taken to a hospital, Cosby succumbed to his injuries shortly after.

Chief Cecil Smith of the Sanford Police Department expressed disappointment in the actions of Cosby’s associates, who failed to provide him with medical assistance or cooperate with law enforcement. Smith emphasised the need for accountability in such situations, where a life was needlessly lost.

Investigations into the shooting led to the identification of the vehicle involved, a Kia K-5 sedan, with the help of a license plate reader. A social media tip aided in locating the driver, although their identity has not been disclosed. The police are still searching for a third individual connected to the incident, urging anyone with information to come forward.
