Girish Kotecha : “Gujarat BJP MLA’s Son Assaults Dalit Student Leader”

After a shocking case of attempted murder was filed against Ganesh Jadeja, son of Gujarat BJP MLA Geetaba Jadeja, and several others for allegedly kidnapping and assaulting a Dalit and National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) member, a bombshell audio recording has come to light. In the recording, which has gone viral on social media, a BJP leader from Junagadh can be heard trying to broker a settlement with the victim’s father.

The leader in question has been identified as Deputy Mayor Girish Kotecha. During the phone call, Kotecha can be heard asking the victim’s father, Raju Solanki, “Did your son get into a fight? Let’s resolve this matter amicably.”

In response, Solanki expresses his anger, stating, “I will only settle this after I teach him a lesson.”

The case of attempted murder was registered on Friday against Ganesh Jadeja and others for allegedly kidnapping and assaulting Sanjay Solanki, a local NSUI leader, according to police reports. Given that the victim is a Dalit, the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act has also been invoked.

According to the FIR, 26-year-old Sanjay Solanki had asked Jadeja to drive carefully after a close encounter between Jadeja’s car and his two-wheeler in the Kalva Chowk area on Thursday night. Enraged by this, Jadeja and his group followed Solanki to his home on Datar Road but left after Solanki’s father, who knew Jadeja, intervened.

Early the next morning, around 3:00 am, while Solanki was riding his two-wheeler, a car carrying Ganesh Jadeja’s associates allegedly collided with him from behind. Subsequently, five men emerged from the vehicle, reportedly beat him with sticks, and forcibly took him away.

He was then taken to Jadeja’s residence in Gondal, where he was allegedly subjected to severe physical assault and pressured to resign from the NSUI, as per the complainant’s account.

The accused later dropped Solanki at Bhesan crossroads, as mentioned in the FIR.

The Congress party has strongly condemned the incident, raising concerns about the law and order situation in Gujarat.

“As per data presented by the Government of India in the Lok Sabha, 11 districts in Gujarat are classified as Atrocity Prone Zones, including Junagadh where this incident occurred,” stated Gujarat Congress spokesperson Hiren Banker.

“Under the BJP government, there is an atrocity attack on Scheduled Castes every 48 hours. These incidents highlight the deteriorating law and order situation in Gujarat,” he added.
