SANFORD, Fla. – A tragic incident unfolded in Sanford earlier this month when seventeen-year-old Sadarion Cosby was fatally shot by individuals he considered friends during a drug deal that went horribly wrong. Deputy Chief Trekelle Perkins revealed details of the incident during a press conference on Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities have taken swift action in response to the senseless killing, with the arrest of 21-year-old Terrell Walker in Georgia. Walker faces charges of second-degree murder and attempted robbery with a firearm in connection to Cosby’s death, according to the Sanford Police Department.
The tragic event unfolded near the intersection of Scott Drive and Ellen Place on April 9, where Cosby and his acquaintances approached a black Kia K5 for what was intended to be a drug exchange.
As the group attempted to rob the driver of the Kia, Walker brandished a firearm, prompting the driver to defend himself by firing a single shot. Tragically, the bullet struck Cosby in the abdomen as he leaned against the car window.
Surveillance footage captured the harrowing events from multiple angles, providing investigators with crucial evidence to piece together the sequence of events leading to Cosby’s untimely death.
