At approximately 8:15 p.m., Linn County deputies were called to a residence on Speasl Road following reports of a domestic dispute with a firearm. Prior to their arrival, a gunshot was fired at the home, escalating the situation further.

Upon reaching the scene, law enforcement encountered Maroccia outside the residence, armed with a rifle. According to Oregon State Police, Maroccia exhibited aggressive behaviour towards one of the deputies, prompting concerns for the safety of the officers.
