Accident – Death – Obituary News : The Polk County Sheriff’s Office made a significant arrest on May 24th, apprehending 20-year-old Milo Pemberton following his involvement in a vehicular collision. The situation escalated when Pemberton, while receiving medical attention, displayed combative behavior towards law enforcement and emergency responders.

According to an official statement from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the events unfolded in the early hours of the morning at the intersection of Florida Ave S and Shepherd Rd in Lakeland. Deputy Sheriff Billek #9491 was the first responder on the scene and took charge of the initial investigation into the traffic accident.

Upon arrival, law enforcement officers observed Polk County Fire/EMS personnel attending to one of the drivers, later identified as Milo Pemberton. Due to Pemberton’s agitated state, additional assistance was requested to ensure the safety of all involved. Despite initial attempts to calm him down, Pemberton’s behaviour became increasingly erratic.

In a harrowing turn of events, Medic #2, a Firefighter/Paramedic, found himself in a dangerous situation when Pemberton made alarming statements suggesting he may possess a firearm. Fearing for his safety, Medic #2 attempted to restrain Pemberton, prompting law enforcement to conduct a search of Pemberton’s person. During the search, an unopened alcoholic beverage was discovered in his possession, further complicating the situation due to Pemberton’s age of 20, rendering him underage for alcohol consumption.

As tensions escalated, Pemberton’s actions became increasingly hostile towards the emergency responders and law enforcement officers present. Despite repeated verbal commands to comply, Pemberton continued to resist, leading to physical restraints being applied. In a desperate attempt to escape, Pemberton even made threats against the officers, further escalating the situation.

During transportation to the hospital for medical evaluation, Pemberton’s behaviour took a violent turn, resulting in a physical altercation within the ambulance. Law enforcement officers were forced to intervene, ultimately resorting to deploying a Taser to subdue Pemberton and prevent further harm to the emergency responders.

In the aftermath of the incident, it was revealed that the vehicle Pemberton was operating at the time of the crash had been unlawfully taken without permission from the owner, who subsequently pressed charges. Pemberton was subsequently arrested and charged with a range of offenses, including Battery on Law Enforcement Officer, Assault on a Paramedic/Firefighter, Grand Theft – Motor Vehicle, among others.

The events that transpired on that fateful day serve as a stark reminder of the dangers faced by emergency responders in the line of duty. The swift and decisive actions of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office in apprehending Pemberton underscore the importance of upholding the law and ensuring the safety of all members of the community..
