The incident, which occurred around 9:33 p.m., prompted Bowling Green police to respond to the 3100 block of Scottsville Road after receiving reports of a domestic disturbance, as documented in a uniform citation.

Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement officers were met with the sound of a man, later identified as 47-year-old Jeremy Blanton from Bowling Green, Kentucky, shouting within the confines of a motel room. The situation quickly escalated as Blanton resisted arrest and made a menacing move towards a nearby table where a knife and revolver were visibly placed.
According to the uniform citation, when the officer drew his taser in an attempt to subdue Blanton, the latter commanded a large dog to attack the officer.
