CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) – A 25-year-old man, Lance DeMarzo, has been convicted of unlawful use of a weapon after making threats towards employees at a nightclub in Cape Girardeau.

The Cape Girardeau County Prosecuting Attorney announced that DeMarzo faced a one-day jury trial on May 30, where he was found guilty of unlawful use of a weapon – exhibiting a firearm in an angry or threatening manner.

During the trial, video evidence was presented showing the events that transpired at the Hypnotic Night Club on Broadway in Cape Girardeau on January 1, 2023, at approximately 2 a.m. DeMarzo brandished a firearm after being informed that the establishment was closed.

The Cape Girardeau Police Department conducted an investigation into the incident. DeMarzo’s sentencing is scheduled for July 1, where he could face a maximum of four years in the department of corrections.

The prosecution highlighted the seriousness of the offence and the impact it had on the nightclub’s employees and patrons. The safety and well-being of the community are of paramount importance, and such behaviour will not be tolerated.
