COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Authorities have confirmed that human remains discovered earlier this year in rural Tennessee belong to Maury-Ange Faith Martinez, a 20-year-old woman who was reported missing from Gwinnett County last year.

Martinez was last seen leaving the Gwinnett County jail on August 28, 2023, at 2:20 p.m. Her disappearance sparked a search effort that tragically ended when her skeletal remains were found on January 5, 2024, in rural Chattanooga, Tennessee.

The Hamilton County Medical Examiner’s Office positively identified Martinez through forensic analysis. However, the cause of her death remains undisclosed, and investigators have not confirmed if foul play is suspected.
