VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A 20-year-old driver was taken into custody for driving under the influence after authorities found him asleep in his running vehicle, obstructing traffic in Victorville, California.
The incident took place on Sunday, May 26, 2024, around 2:19 a.m. in the 14500 block of Mojave Drive. Deputies from the Victorville Police Station responded to reports of a silver 2005 Toyota Corolla parked in the middle of the road without hazard lights on.
Upon approaching the vehicle, deputies found Axel Rafael Osuna, a resident of Adelanto, asleep in the driver’s seat with the car still in drive. They quickly put the vehicle in ‘park’ and detained Osuna.
During a search of the vehicle, law enforcement officers discovered a Polymer 80 handgun, commonly known as a “ghost gun.” Osuna was subsequently arrested and booked at the High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto on charges of driving under the influence, driving with a blood alcohol content of .08% or higher, and carrying a loaded firearm not registered to him.
After spending the night in custody, Osuna was released on bail the next day with no court appearance scheduled. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact the Victorville Police Station or Sheriff’s Dispatch.
