Accident – Death – Obituary News : NEW PHILADELPHIA ‒ In a shocking turn of events, two individuals have been formally charged with felonious assault, a second-degree felony, following a troubling road rage incident that occurred in New Philadelphia back in February. The accused parties have been identified as Wyatt Andrew Shaw, aged 20 and hailing from Gnadenhutten, as well as Landon Scott Levengood, aged 19 and residing in Sherrodsville.
The incident, which sparked the investigation, unfolded on the 9th of February when the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office received a distress call from Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital in Dover. The call pertained to a man seeking urgent medical attention after falling victim to a brutal assault in the aftermath of a road rage confrontation.
According to reports, the victim, a 53-year-old New Philadelphia resident, recounted being rudely cut off by another driver while travelling along West High Avenue. The offender, driving a white Chevrolet pickup, proceeded to tail the victim to an area near his residence after the victim expressed his discontent by honking and flashing his headlights. This led to a heated exchange that quickly escalated into a physical altercation, leaving the victim battered and bruised.
The assailants, identified as Shaw and Levengood by the authorities, allegedly pummeled the victim with a barrage of punches and kicks before hastily fleeing the scene. It is believed that a total of three individuals were involved in the assault, with the victim sustaining severe facial injuries that necessitated multiple surgical interventions.
The Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office has since confirmed that Shaw and Levengood were the primary perpetrators of this heinous act of violence. Both individuals are set to appear before the Tuscarawas County Common Pleas Court on the 26th of June to face the charges brought against them.
